Enron was an energy trading company that invented confusing ways to get people to invest money in its stock. Higher profits meant more money invested even though the profits were all fabricated. The people that invested their money thought the profits were real.

Eventually, the largest shareholders cashed in their shares of stock when it was most profitable and the rest of the shareholders were left with nothing when the corporation collapsed.
