General Francisco Franco Is Still Dead

When I was a kid we would watch Saturday Night Live with Chevy Chase and when he would do the fake news he would say, "General Francisco Franco is still dead." I didn't know what he meant then and I don't know what he meant today but I still think it's funny shit.

The link below is an article in the Independent Online about the gays in Spain receiving retributions from the government for being treated unfairly when the General was in power.

Now, 31 years later, Mr Ruiz and a dwindling band of others who suffered General Franco's ruthless repression of homosexuals, may finally be offered compensation by the state.

As part of their nationalist, Catholic ideals, the Franco regime and its Falangist supporters considered homosexuals a threat to the "macho" Spanish male.
