Looks like a toy...

But it’s not! I just can’t get enough of this Tilt Shift lens. Don’t you just love that pic of Hong Kong? Here is an entire group of other pics taken with the TS lens.

First Martha Stewart, Now Sam’s Club?

Not only has the concept of “The Apprentice” grown weak and stale, but also they are now consorting with known American Villains like Sam’s Club. What the hell is this Trump guy thinking?

I watched the new episode last night and is it me or does this show really suck now?! The whole premise has grown tired and completely watered down. At least Mark Burnett has been tweaking “Survivor” to keep it fresh and surprising. Why are they letting Trump’s show continue to suck?

As always you meet a great group of young people with extremely lofty credentials, on the top end of the physical attraction scale. They seem very impressive upon first introduction, then you see them in action and they are complete idiots with no clue of how to set up a business plan of action. If these people are so successful with their lives and educations why do they need a job with Donald Trump? Oh, that’s right. The joy of Fame.

Not only that, but now I see that DT is putting his own no-talent daughter into the spotlight replacing Carolyn on the next episode (next Monday). What credentials does that stupid bitch have to sit in judgment of would-be entrepreneurs? Because she’s daddy’s daughter with a fucked up name (Ivanka sounds like I’m trying to pronounce something distasteful)?

Trump is obviously too stupid to figure out the Jerry Seinfeld school of ultimate television respect: quit while you’re ahead and make everyone miss you when you’re gone! Right now I just wish he would go away.

Incredible miniature models

Not! These are photoshop pics that resemble photographs taken with a Tilt Shift lens. I still don’t understand the Tilt Shift lense but I know that when it's done right it’s pretty incredible.

Thanks Boing-boing.

Stay Away From Wal-Mart!

I know it’s hard to avoid sometimes because of the convenience and low, low prices but these guys are really, really bad for the American environment. This is not new but Wal-Mart breeds low wage employees, puts American retailers out of business, and gives very little to the charities they claim (In 2004, cash donations to non-profit organizations by Wal-Mart, its employees, and its customers made through Wal-Mart, the Wal-Mart Foundation and the Sam's Club Foundation totaled more than US$170 million. Big deal!).

I have a hard time feeling sorry for these cocksuckers!

WASHINGTON - Wal-Mart's chief executive told America's governors on Sunday hat he needs their help to make health care more affordable and accessible for the retail giant's 1.3 million U.S. employees because the company can't do it alone.

Boo-hoo, they can’t do it alone… At $11.00 per employee that is only $14 million. If they paid $100 per employee that would only be $130 million. Where is the fucking problem here? They gave away more than that to charity.

Lee Scott said Wal-Mart's health care costs have risen 19 percent in each of the last three years and that it's only a matter of time before it, along with other businesses, cannot sustain rising costs.

NO SHIT ASS-WIPES! Welcome to America! All this wouldn’t be so fucking humiliating if they hadn’t made so much money just last year:

BRIEF: For the nine months ended 31 October 2005, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.'s revenues increased 10% to $225.53B. Net income increased 8% to $7.64B.

Most grocery stores are lucky to squeeze out 3% at the end of the year. These greedy Wal-Mart mother-fuckers not only beat down American manufacturers before going to China to buy products cheaper, but they also skimp out when it comes to paying for insurance for all their employees:

According to Wal-Mart's website, Wal-Mart offers benefits to approximately 620,000 of its 1.6 million employees, and there are plans to expand this to one million of its employees. [6]

With the kind of money Wal-Mart deals in they could easily open their own hospital system and put Uncle Sam out of the Health Care industry. Why don’t they do that?

Please do what you can to stay away from these bastards. Please buy online or local when you can. Please take a second to say what you think. Please write a letter to your governor.

Look at me I'm begging here...

$50 million in art stolen

Rio is a rough fucking town, especially during Mardis Gras. But this is ridiculous:

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- Taking advantage of the chaos of a Carnival parade, thieves entered an art museum and stole paintings valued at tens of millions of dollars, even stripping visitors of cell phones, digital cameras and wallets before fleeing.

As a samba band performed outside Friday, the thieves overpowered security guards at the Chacara do Ceu museum and stole Pablo Picasso's ''The Dance,'' Salvador Dali's ''The Two Balconies,'' Henri Matisse's ''Luxembourg Garden'' and Claude Monet's ''Marine."

The thieves got away with not only priceless paintings, but they picked the pockets of the patrons as well? What fucking century is this?

This shit never gets old to me. Here is a better article on Yahoo News.

A (Not-so) Gigantic Bridge?

While sifting through the Boing-boing website for new and interesting things I came across this post for the Project Gutenberg; more specifically the Scientific American Journals published on this splendid website. Some of the content in the Journals is less than boring as there are no pictures to keep me from drifting off but some of the information is pretty interesting. I liked this article (from Scientific American, Vol. 17, No. 26 December 28, 1867) with it's brief downplay of the Brooklyn Bridge, then referred to as the “proposed Roebling Bridge”:
A GIGANTIC BRIDGE.--A suspension bridge is to be erected by M. Oudry, engineer, over the Straits of Messina, Sicily, from Point Pezzo, on the Calabrian Coast. It is to consist of four spans of 3,281 feet each, elevated about 150 feet above high-water level, so that the largest ships may pass under. The proposed Roebling bridge over the East River, between New York and Brooklyn, is to have a single span of 1,600 feet.
So if the Messina Bridge is a “Gigantic Bridge”, does that make the Brooklyn Bridge a “Not-So Gigantic Bridge”? The paragraph below this one in the Journal is an announcement about (I assume) the Pony Express, “…mails to the West now go in iron-bound boxes instead of leathern bags. Each box, tightly packed, contains about eight hundred letters.”

Thanks to Flickr for the pic!

UPDATE:

While searching through Wikipedia for relevant information it seems that the Straits of Messina Bridge* was NEVER built due to, "concerns about the role of the local mafia.” Maybe Scientific American will THINK TWICE before declaring just any rogue bridge a “Gigantic Bridge?”

*also, the Journal missed the length of the Messina Bridge by just a few feet. They said it would be 3300 feet long when in reality it would be 3300 meters!

Last word on Trump

I don’t have anything to say about these two media whores except that I lost total respect for both of them.

I still can’t believe that Trump aligned himself with a lying, convicted felon like Martha Stewart, and then bitched about her “not taking responsibility” when her when her show failed. It’s DT’s fault that she was allowed to be in the position to fail IN THE FIRST PLACE!

And Martha, you are the queen of originality (and deceit), the “guru” of DIY creativity and style. WHY did you make your show to be EXACTLY like Dumbass Donald’s? Couldn’t you have come up with a solution a little more “outside the box”?

I just couldn’t let a great pic like this go unused. Go here to see the entire collection of pics at the Worth1000.com Photoshop contest.

Goodbye Mr. Furley

Best known as Barney Fife, Don Knotts had the incredibly challenging chore of filling Norman Fell’s shoes as the apartment complex superintendent where Jack, Chrissy, and Janet lived in the television sitcom “Three’s Company.” Who didn’t love Mr. Furley and the way he wore those seersucker suits and ‘70’s style scarfs?

LOS ANGELES - Don Knotts, the skinny, lovable nerd who kept generations of television audiences laughing as bumbling Deputy Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith'' Andy Griffith Show," has died. He was 81.

The West Virginia-born actor's half-century career included seven TV series and more than 25 films, but it was the Griffith show that brought him TV immortality and five Emmies.

I was seven years old when “The Apple Dumpling Gang” came out in the movies and I still get “that feeling” when it comes on TV. I never watched the “Andy Griffith” show because it was a little before my time. And I never watched "Matlock" but I always respected the way Don Knotts and Andy Griffith maintained their relationship throughout the years.

Have you heard of Second Life?

Hell I haven’t even figured out the first life yet!? I spent about three hours trying to understand what the fuck is Second Life and I’m still clueless!?! Apparently it is becoming the trend to inhabit an area of cyberspace and then buy and sell goods and services with “Linden” dollars, which can be converted into actual CASH!

Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by nearly 100,000 people from around the globe.

From the moment you enter the World you’ll discover a vast digital continent, teeming with people, entertainment, experiences and opportunity. Once you’ve explored a bit, perhaps you’ll find a perfect parcel of land to build your house or business.

The Marketplace currently supports millions of US dollars in monthly transactions. This commerce is handled with the in-world currency, the Linden dollar, which can be converted to US dollars at several thriving online currency exchanges.

Even "Wired" has reported on the topic:
…Second Life can be difficult to explain to friends, who invariably ask, "People pay you money to rent land that doesn't exist?" "I say, you've got to see it," said De Louise. "Watch the videos off the website and after you take your chin off the floor, come on in."

Within a month, Grinnell was making more in Second Life than in her real-world job as a dispatcher. And after three months she realized she could quit her day job altogether.

Now Second Life is her primary source of income, and Grinnell, whose avatar answers to the name Janie Marlowe, claims she earns more than four times her previous salary.
Don’t worry Canada, your old buddy Deon has sacrificed himself and set up an account on SL to make sure it’s not "Saskatchewan” as you might say, eh? I’m a six-foot tall, skinny waisted, big breasted, blonde headed, Asian with webbed feet. My screen name is Chloe and I'm available after 8PM and on weekends (a girl's gotta make a living!).

Thanks to our friends at Cool Hunting.

Bode Miller is a complete loser

He didn’t even try before he gave up. My prediction is that we won’t hear much from BM (perfect initials) ever again. Let’s hope I’m right.
SESTRIERE, Italy - American Bode Miller ended his disappointing Olympics by straddling a gate near the beginning of his men's slalom run Saturday.

Miller was only about 15 seconds into the first of what would have been two runs when a gate split his skis and he moved to the side of the course and stopped.
On Tuesday he sprained his ankle playing basketball!?! You went to Turin, Italy to compete in the Olympics and you were playing basketball? You are in the Italian Alps, you have money to burn, you have enough fame and celebrity to shag the Olympic Cheerleaders, AND YOU WERE PLAYING FUCKING BASKETBALL???

Curb Your Breeding

Come on people, it doesn’t take a rocket-scientist to figure out that the earth is way too crowded. Hasn’t anyone heard of the word abstinence?
A population milestone is about to be set on this jam-packed planet.

On Saturday, Feb. 25, at 7:16 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, the population here on this good Earth is projected to hit 6.5 billion people.

Along with this forecast, an analysis by the International Programs Center at the U.S. Census Bureau points to another factoid, Robert Bernstein of the Bureau's Public Information Center advised LiveScience. Mark this on your calendar: Some six years from now, on Oct. 18, 2012 at 4:36 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, the Earth will be home to 7 billion folks.
Yikes!

I’m doing my part the best that I can. I TRIED to wear a condom last night…

I drink Green Tea

I first fell in love with green tea on a business trip to Japan in the mid-‘90’s. Now it has become a part of my daily routine. That's why this article doesn't surprise me at all:
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - People who regularly drink green tea may have a lesser risk of mental decline as they grow older, researchers have found.

Their study, of more than 1,000 Japanese adults in their 70s and beyond, found that the more green tea men and women drank, the lower their odds of having cognitive impairment.
When I worked at CareerBuilder here in Chicago I developed the pleasing habit of drinking green tea. I found that when I drank it while I worked I was much more productive. In fact, now I only drink green tea, water, or coffee throughout the day.

I figure that I put so many harmful toxins and tequilas into my body at night that I could use a break on my regular drink.

Talk about sick bastards?

Not only did these fuckers desecrate human remains, but they also falsified the documents so that old and infirmed body parts were placed into unsuspecting healthy human patients.
The disturbing images drive home the depravity of the illicit scheme: Corpses of loved ones ripped open, their bones callously replaced with plumber's pipe.

After removing all the bones below the waist to the ankle, the alleged body-snatchers "used screws to screw the [real] feet to the PVC pipe" before putting shoes on the corpses, said Assistant District Attorney Josh Hanshaft, who is prosecuting the case.
This is cool because the next time you are at a funeral you are going to have a legitimate reason to reach in to the casket and feel up Old Uncle Freddy. I know I will!

Thanks to Vern.

The American Map

Here is a simple yet effective illustration of exactly what I was talking about in an earlier blogging.

I can only imagine that this is exactly how GW sees the world through his beady little eyes!?!

There is not a thing I disagree with about this map (as GW sees it), except that I would have called Canada, “America Junior.”

Thanks Vidro for the tip!

Bob Marley Festival

I respect the man and the legend of Bob Marley, but I assure you my “Marley Mourning,” Reggae-days are long since over.

College was fun!

Tomorrow there will be a festival held in Miami for the memory of The Man, so if you are in South Florida make sure you let me know how it was!

And send a little karma to Chicago so that, ya know, we can celebrate too… And if you can’t find karma, ganja will do!

Meet the sexy Ms. Hicks

Ms. Hicks is a hottie (no relation to yours truly)!

Auto erotica was the furthest thing from my mind this morning, but since it’s been brought up…

FEBRUARY 22--Claiming that Internet surfers have been using her mug shot for "private sexual gratification," a convicted drug dealer is threatening to sue The Smoking Gun unless her booking photo is removed from our site. So meet Casey Hicks. Again. It's been a few years since we've thought about the comely 25-year-old Floridian, whose photo first appeared on TSG in 2002 as part of a collection of mug shots that we dubbed "Foxy Felons."
Thanks Smoking Gun!

Ass lovers unite!

Hell, let’s hear it for women’s volleyball. Fuck that, let’s hear it for tight, little, black shorts EVERYWHERE!

I've gotta get to Central Connecticut! I've gotta get a life!

These things make even the fat chicks look hot!!!

Thanks Techakke for the link (what a great name, Techakke!).

Thousands of Africans are being RAPED!

This has actually been going on for quite some time now:

KINSHASA (Reuters) - Thousands of civilians have taken refuge on floating islands in the lakes of Congo's Katanga province to escape rape and murder by government and militia fighters, a top U.N. humanitarian official said on Thursday.

Some 120,000 people have fled their homes in the remote Mitwaba area, where hundreds of women have been raped during fighting between the army and former pro-government militiamen that U.N. peacekeepers are unable to control, he added.
But don’t worry, there is no oil in the Congo, so we as Americans shouldn’t give a shit about these oil-less monsters.

This is cool because it proves that our glorious President is heading in the right direction with that whole "War in Iraq" thingy!!!

Go here to read the whole article.

Funny pics!

This is a link to a weblog with some funny-ass photos (sorry about the pun)! This weblog has only been posting for a couple weeks, but already has dozens of comments on each pic!?!

Maybe if I mention him he will send some Karma my way?

Here goes…

New Galaxy Discovered

Now, I couldn’t give two shits about the deep, dark, recesses of outer space. But you have to admit, that is a pretty cool fucking picture!?!
Astronomers have found that a diffuse X-ray glow in our galaxy is not generated by hot gas but rather it's radiating from old stars that have yet to be counted.

There could be roughly a billion stars we didn't know about in the Milky Way, they said Wednesday.

The discovery, if confirmed, "would have a profound impact on our understanding of the history of our galaxy, from star-formation and supernova rates to stellar evolution," according to a statement released by NASA.
Go here if you want to bore yourself with more deep space information.

New Saltwater Reef Found

This is serious shit!

Please read carefully. A new reef has been found off the coast of Thailand. This is important because the world is losing it’s offshore wildlife as fast, or faster than the rain forests.
BANGKOK, Thailand - A coral reef spanning several hundred acres and teeming with fish has been discovered off the coast of Thailand and should be given protected status, the World Wide Fund for Nature said Wednesday.

Tipped off by local fishermen, WWF divers in January found what they say is a healthy, 667-acre reef in southern Thailand with over 30 genera of hard corals, and at least 112 species of fish.
I owned a saltwater reef tank when I lived in Texas and I loved that tank. I did not own anything that was exotic or that couldn’t be bread in captivity, just rocks, shrimp, and anemones. But it was still very fun and opened my eyes to a whole world out there under the sea that will soon be gone.

Now read this part:
A United Nations report in December found that close to a third of the world's corals have vanished, and 60 percent are expected to be lost by 2030. More than a third of all mangroves have disappeared, with the rate of loss greater than that of tropical rain forests, the report found.

The report found that reefs in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and Thailand were hardest hit by massive waves with damage reaching up to 30 percent in some places. But much like earlier studies, it found that human activities like illegal fishing and climate change pose the greatest risk to the future of these reefs.
Did you read that? "Human activities... pose the greatest threat." Okay, I'm paraphrasing there but you get the point. This is important shit man! We gotta take care of the reefs.

Michael Cho's sketchbook

Michael Cho is an incredibly talented artist who happens to live in Canada. His weblog is an incredible collection of artwork (out of his sketchbook) from a very broad range of different mediums (Pen and ink, pencil sketch, marker drawings and prints). From political satire to illustrations this guy does it all! And from what I can tell his wife is a hottie!

Thanks to Boing-boing for the link.

Drunken people are funny

When we were kids we had a friend named Harvey. Harvey was a deep sleeper. One time when Harvey was sleeping my friend Mitchell put things in Harvey’s bed. Things like brooms, and trashcans, and one time an entire pile of wet leaves! We laughed our asses off!

These pictures reminded me of poor Harvey. I laughed my ASS off!

Don’t go to Germany!!!

Apparently the Third Reich is swimming in pig shit!?!

BERLIN (Reuters) - A Bavarian village was flooded by liquid pig manure after a tank containing the fertilizer burst, German police said Wednesday.

Sewage rose to 20 inches in the courtyards and streets
of Elsa after gushing from the tank, which held some 240,000 litres of pig manure.
The title of this article is, “Eeeeeeewwwwwwww!!!!!" …No shit.

(Thanks to Flickr for the pic.)

This chick ROCKS!!!

Anyone who knows me, knows I fucking love METAL! I have always loved metal and I am happy for anyone who keeps it alive!!! Now I love Lennon Murphy (yes Love!). She is going to be at Wise Fools Pub on February 23rd & 24th in Chicago with her buddy Shannon Curfman. I suggest everyone go check her out now before she is very big!

I’m not a critic, so I don’t know shit about music appreciation, but I know that this shit CRUNCHES and that’s cool! Go to her MySpace profile or her website to listen to more (I strongly suggest you check out Main Gravel Road! I listened to it about three times!)
How does one sum up the life of 22-year-old female rock artist Lennon Murphy? Do you start with the death of her only parent at the age of 18, the two year successful battle for adoption of her 10 year old sister, the release of her debut album on tragic Sept. 11, 2001 her departure from Arista Records due to internal problems, and give into the poor little girl tale that every article in her press book leaves you pondering; or do you look past the story, look past the sexual imagery, and discover Lennon in the honesty of her music.
Here is a note from Lennon to me (on Myspace):
"I was surfing around today and I checked out your profile. Thought you might want to be my friend and check out a few of my songs. I am also playing a show …Feb 23rd & Feb 24th in Chicago @ Wise Fools Pub with my buddy Shannon Curfman, hope you can make it out."
That’s right Canadians! She wants to be my friend!!! ME!!! Oh, and she’s hot! VERY HOT so go check out her show!!! Or if you're not in Chicago this week go to Amazon and pick up a copy of her album "I Am", or her album "5:30 Saturday Morning." Here is a link to her album "Career Suicide" with my favorite song Main Gravel Road.

More on Sasha Cohen

Don’t you just love the name Sasha? This chick is pretty awesome (I know, I know, she’s only sixteen and she needs about three days in a tanning bed). I’ve talked about her before.
Sasha Cohen was flirting with those judges, melting them, making them realize that she was the best skater here at Palvela, the best here at the ladies' short program. You couldn't miss it. They couldn't ignore it. Cohen can do wonders with those eyes, she can make hearts skip beats, and she sure did it Tuesday, winding up in first place with a brilliant 66.73. The free skate is Thursday.
Here is a link to an article about her short program last night, and here is a link to her NBC bio. It includes several video clips and interviews along with some great pics. Go USA!

Free Books!

Here is a link to a FREE copy of Pride & Prejudice from Jason’s website (in PDF form of course).

I got this link from the Madprofessor. This book is called How Computers Work and it's for sale or available in your library but you can get it here for free! And it’s a pretty cool book!

Here is a link I got from boing-boing for a library in New Orleans looking for book donations.

This is just sad

Sixty-fucking-two year old woman gives birth! God bless her! Giving birth over 35 years of age is considered high risk. Of course invitro-fertilisation was involved. This is cool because it proves that the world IS coming to an end.
A 62 year old woman gives birth to a baby boy. (February 19).
Here is a link to the ABC GMA interview with the family and doctor. (WARNING: the shitty ABC.com link will resize your browser.) With all due respect, she should take the advice of William Ray.

Thanks to Dlisted.

Do you know William Ray?

Here is a link to Southern California artist William Ray's website.

Being mostly self-taught and shunning California’s conceptual oriented art schools, he eventually enrolled in The Art Students League located in New York to reinforce his spotty art foundation.

He believes his biggest contribution to society is not having any children so he can be doing as many paintings as possible before he’s dead.

Way to go Bill!!! Here is a link to his weblog. Did I mention that I love the layout!!!

Ants in blue gel are cool

This is a tiny AP story about some toy convention in NYC.

Olympic Cheerleaders?

I don't understand the Olympics and I damn sure don't understand Olympic Cheerleaders!

TURIN, Italy - The Dutch oom-pah band had just finished Queen's ubiquitous rock anthem "We Will Rock You" and the crowd was on its feet Sunday night, stamping and clapping. Then the Olympic cheerleaders ran onto the skating oval.

Dead silence. Followed by boos.

This almost makes me wish I had a Tivo. Almost. It's not a bad idea though. Take the best cheerleaders of each nation and have them face off naked in an ice wrestling contest! Now THAT I would watch! Here is the whole article.

Update:

Here is an exclusive interview with NBC Tool - Al Roker and the Italian Cheerleaders! My interest in the Olympics has suddenly increased fivefold. That means it has gone from a zero to a five (on a scale of 1 to 100)!!! My apologies for all the MSN and NBC Nazi propoganda you have to wade through.

BORING!!!

Yesterday I spent the afternoon (all day really) doing shit on the internet. Around noon I turned on the TV to watch “Coneheads” the movie (my personal favorite). After the movie I put on the Nascar Daytona 500. It was on in the background but I could still pay attention to it (that is when there wasn’t a commercial on).

I gotta say, that was the most boring three hours I have ever encountered. You go around a track, big deal. Some bumping, some scraping, someone skidding and sliding at that speed. Big deal. I don’t get it.

Golf has gotten lame too!

Finally, Hotel California Explained

This is an explanation of one of the lines in Hotel California. I always thought the Eagles were singing about kittens, daisies, and fluffy clouds?
My fave, posted to the Usenet by Thomas Dzubin of Vancouver, British Columbia: "There was this fireworks factory just three blocks from the Hotel California . . . and it blew up! Big tragedy. One of the workers was named Wurn Snell and he was from the town of Colitas in Greece. One of the workers who escaped the explosion talked to another guy . . . I think it was probably Don Henley . . . and Don asked what the guy saw. The worker said, "Wurn Snell of Colitas . . . rising up through the air."
I have never been a genius at figuring out words or lyrics to songs but I enjoyed this explanation. And when I found out what COLITAS meant, I REALLY enjoyed this explanation.

Wow… I like the brunette in the middle!
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit models Brooklyn Decker (left), Aline Nakashima and Anne V celebrate their appearance in the issue by going to a Knicks game. Well, maybe "celebrate" is the wrong word.
I’m not a fan of Sports Illustrated (Houston beat NY in the 1994 NBA Championship and SI refused to put League MVP Hakeem Olajuwan on the cover) AT ALL, but I do love beautiful women. Check it out!

Olympic Skater Sasha Cohen

I don’t watch the Olympics but I would watch this chick!
Cohen's given name is Alexandra Pauline Cohen— Sasha is a Ukrainian nickname for Alexandra... She has one younger sister, Natasha ...Mother Galina was born in Odessa, Ukraine ...Most prized possession is her house ... Long-term goals include working as a fashion designer or in the entertainment industry ... Was on her school honor roll and has won various gymnastics awards ... Was a successful gymnast before taking up figure skating, but says she wasn’t focused enough for the dangerous elements; at age 7 she did a back spring series without noticing a four-inch beam in her path and luckily sprung over it ...
Here is an article about how Shaun White (The Flying Tomatoe) wants to bang this chick too! Hey, I'm not dogging SW. He's the only (outstanding) American so far to win a gold medal!!!

Kick Ass Photos!

Go check out these kick ass photos my friend just sent me! My friend is from Taiwan but I think these pics are Thailand? I can't read the type on the webpage but the images are definitely worth the view. If somebody knows the origin of these pics let us know!

Sorry about the "Language Pack Installation" and the popups. Just click Cancel. The pics are worth it I promise! Here is a link to a Flickr set I just loaded up... Enjoy!

Futurist foresees big gains in nanotechnology

Everywhere I go I bump into this Ray Kurzweil guy.
In 2029, people and computers will be "intimately connected" in profound ways, thanks to breakthrough advances in artificial intelligence, nanotechnology and a soon-to-be-acquired knowledge of the human brain.

Just around the corner -- in 2009 -- people will have fast Internet connections at all times in all places thanks to advances in small, mobile electronics embedded in clothing and in the environment. "Computers will disappear," he said, as visiting a Web site will become a mobile, virtual reality experience and "displays will be written directly on our retinas" from eyeglasses and contact lenses.
Here is the book I want to read on Amazon and here is a link to this article.

Cool Chicago Pic

This is a kick ass pic and I couldn't help but post it here. Check out the rest these professional pics at Flickr.

Lost Camera Blog

This started off as a cute blog about a person that lost their camera and then used Flickr to document their vacation in Hawaii. Well it seems that the camera they lost was found and when they tried to recover it, the story goes wacky!

"Well," she said, "we have a bit of a situation. You see, my nine year old son found your camera, and we wanted to show him to do the right thing, so we called, but now he's been using it for a week and he really loves it and we can't bear to take it from him."

"You're lucky we sent you anything at all. Most people wouldn't do that." We go back and forth a bit more. She eventually hangs up on me. I call the police department in her town (in Canada) but they tell me that it's a U.S. issue, since that's where the property was lost.
Goddamn Canadians!!! Here is the link.

Wireless Chicago

Finally, Chicago comes up with a GOOD idea!
Chicago has hundreds of Wi-Fi hotspots in places like coffee shops, bookstores and libraries, where anyone can walk in, sit down and connect to the Web. Hoping to extend that wireless blanket to all 228 square miles, the city plans to ask technology companies this spring to submit proposals for the project.

"We think it's important for residents of the city and tourists and businesses to have lots of different ways to connect," O'Brien said. "For a city as big as Chicago, with the vibrant business community and diverse citizen base that we have, you want to make sure all kinds of technology are available to them as they work and enjoy entertainment options."

Here is the whole story.

Dick Cheney was alot closer than we think

Gee! Government, conspiracy, cover-up, George Bush? Say it isn't so! Here is another Alex Jones piece talking about the inconsistencies of the recent VP gundown.

A massive cover-up has been conducted concerning the shooting. We know that most of the facts that have been told to the public are manufactured frauds. Cheney claims that he shot Whittington at 90 feet, ballistic tests from the spread of the shotgun pellets to their penetration depth is inconclusive.
I love how video clips can be placed right into webpages now. This one lasts about ten minutes so if you have the time check it out.

Just when I was starting to like Microsoft Outlook they go and change it!

"When the devil came / He was not red / He was chrome, and he said / Come with me / You must go / So I went / Where everything was clean / So precise and towering. I was welcomed / With open arms / I received so much help in every way / I felt no fear / I felt no fear." (Wilco)

Ol' (Wilco) is starting to sound alot like James Frey there. I hope they don't change Outlook. If you use it you might want to go check out what this new skin looks like. It's all chromy now.

It's True! Ugly People Suck!

I knew this for a long time but I never said anything.

"We find that unattractive individuals commit more crime in comparison to average-looking ones, and very attractive individuals commit less crime in comparison to those who are average-looking," claim Naci Mocan of the University of Colorado and Erdal Tekin of Georgia State University.

Old Photographs Really Sell

Do you have any old pictures lying around?

The print, "The Pond-Moonlight," went for $2,928,000 at Sotheby's in New York last night, more than doubling the previous record. The old record, $1,248,000, was set Nov. 8 at Christie's for an untitled photograph of a Marlboro cigarette ad by contemporary art photographer Richard Prince.
And here is your two-page copy of the Sotheby's Press Release for one of Picasso's paintings.

Big Brother is in your Back Pocket!

Sometimes this Alex Jones guy can come off as a right wing fanatic (lunatic). But if this is true, it's some pretty freaky shit! Now, I wouldn't know because I don't have any money. But according to Alex, Uncle Sam is placing RFID chips in our currency.
So we chose to 'microwave' our cash, over $1000 in twenties in a stack, not spread out on a carasoul. Do you know what exploded on American money?? The right eye of Andrew Jackson on the new twenty, every bill was uniform in it's burning... Isnt that interesting? We will now be wrapping all of our larger bills in foil on a regular basis.
If you don't know what RFID means then you are an idiot and you need to get your head out of the dirt. There are even some pictures.

"Rock Star" MOBY is selling his house

I can't stand this liberal, tree-hugging bastard, but he IS rich- and I AM poor. So that DOES make him better than me...

And there's nothing I can do about that right now except envy his house that just came up for sale.

Check out Richie Rich's house and try not to throw stones... It's for sale for $3.5 million and he needs the money!

Girl Jumps Through a Basketball Hoop!!!

At first I had serious doubts about this clip...

I've watched this video several times and the only conclusion that I can come to is that she ACTUALLY jumps through this fucking hoop! You have got to check this shit out!!!

AND the chick is a Hottie!!!

Crazy Multi-Input Touch Screen

This is pretty much the coolest video you will ever see. How do I know? Because it was the coolest video I have ever seen, and I've seen alot of videos! Go here to check out the future of technology!!!

"This is a video of a multi-input touch screen that hopefully will make its way into consumer computer market in time. A standard touch screen allows one input at a time. This allows multiple people to use it and allows for Minority Report like features. Super Cool."

Oh, and the background music is kicking!!!

Dave's not here, man...

When we were in college (in the '80's) we dropped acid (mostly during spring break, or on the weekends) and we did FREAK out! It was fun and most of all we laughed our asses off- when we were not freaking of course.

Actually, we looked alot like these guys here...

Does anyone know where a guy can get any LSD these days? In case you were curious, here is what a sheet of blotter acid looks like. That is probably a tad bigger than actual size.

My New 9/11 Lamp

Everybody's all freaked out about 911 and they forget that life was normal before it happened. Whatever normal is.

"the lamp contains two rotating films inside its clear plastic encasing. the inner one depicts the pre 9/11 skyline of the southern tip of manhattan, nyc complete with the statue of liberty and the twin towers. the faster moving outer film has images of hot-air balloons, sailboats, helicopters, para-gliders and a passenger jet on a transparent background. when lit, this creates the impression of the crafts on the outer film moving in front of the skyline in the back."

The weblog has a link to a motion animation and also a flickr file. Anyway, here is the link.

Do you believe in UFO's?

I always thought that space was like my social life: an empty, black sea of nothing where life does not exist.

After watching this I might have to change my opinion (about space not about my social life).

Robert Redford deserves way more credit

First, the guy rails on Paris Hilton, then he says things like this:
"I don't think anyone's connecting the dots and saying to the public, 'Wake up, folks, because you could end up in a totalitarian nightmare, wondering what happened to your country,'" Redford told Newsweek.
Maybe I should rethink my opinion of this shrivelled-up, wrinkled, old tool? If he would just quit doing those goddamn voice over commercial ads I could forgive him! Go here and read the whole article.

The Truth About 9/11

This is a great video! Actually this is the second version of a great video. I saw the first version of it and it totally changed the way I look at everything now! I especially have a different view of GW. Don't get me wrong, I love America and I am saddened by the loss of so many lives during the 9/11 tragedy. But I stand beside the grieving families when I ask, "Why?"

"It definitely did not look like a commercial plane."

Why is it like this? Why are there so many unanswered questions?

Like I said, this is the second version of this video. It is awesome and it includes a lot of new computer generated images that are incredible! But in my opinion he put in too much information. I almost get overwhelmed at a few points. It's sad that there is so much controversial information that the editor can't put it all in.

If you can spare an hour to open your mind and educate yourself it just might change your opinions too!
